Hot Lemon Balm…Water

As it is technically not tea, and as I don’t drink tea, I feel odd calling this tea. It also seems odd to call it lemon balm water. Whatever. ITS FROM MY GARDEN!!!   Although I grow herbs, I really don’t do much with them except to crush and smell the leaves as I walk through the garden. Lemon balm is my favourite! It just smells so fresh, and is surprizingly lemony for a leaf. I grew if from seed last year, and it has turned into a lovely little bush this year. So I thought I’d actually try it out (hmm, since the sink is full of baby lettuce from my garden, and the container is full of broccoli seeds soaking for sprouting, I think I’ll leave them in the picture for this gardening post):

I let it steep for a bit and then mixed it with a bit of honey.

The taste? Umm, like water. The smell? Delightfully lemony. So, if you inhaled purposefully as you drank, you could imagine you were drinking a lovely lemon…water.

Not sure I’ll do it again for drinking, but I love the idea of cleaning with this wonderfully scented water!
