Today is…Thursday Sept 30, 2010

The boys were playing happily with blocks this morning.

I intruded.

We prayed.

We learned about Isaiah’s prophesies (they did actually look at the picture and talk about it with me…honest):

We read our message (Giant is correcting my rather stubby “th”):

Then we walked to Stay and Play.

Galoot got his 2 month immunizations, and the boys had a short time to play. Then snack. Then they made leaf art, which we brought home (of course! 😉  )

After lunch, Giant asked me to “please play” with him.

I tried.

But I had to finish dishes, and then was interrupted with 2 dirty diapers and putting the wash in the dryer.

Why do things, any ‘things’, always seem more important than playing with our kids?

Eventually I did sit down.

We sorted blocks into colours:

Ettin did too:

Because I wanted to practice sorting colours with Ettin…. Or maybe I’ve forgotten how to play just for fun:

Then a tornado hit:

And a Galoot cried:

And mommy play time ended while I put a baby to sleep.

Giant started begging for computer games.

I was tempted…

…but this would make 2 days in a row of caving. So I gathered some energy from somewhere and dived into crafts.

We cut out the art from Stay and Play:

I love that littlest leaf:

Then we made ladybugs for our tree. Hmmm, I meant to talk about how ladybugs are finding places to sleep for the winter, now that it is fall. But I didn’t. Oh well.

And we cut out some egg carton sections to make into ladybugs:

Painted them red:

(note the look of disgust on Ettin’s face as he looks at his messy fingers. This, from a boy who purposefully colours on himself any chance he gets)

So cute! (okay, not really. But a good craft, anyway):

Have I mentioned that art has a short life around here? I saved the rest, but Giant’s ladybugs quickly turned into a helicopter:

Then we put them on our tree.

The ladybugs:

Our leaves:

And admired our work:

Phewww!! I must admit, the house was way less than clean by the time hubby got home. But we had a good play!
