Today is…Thursday Jan 27 2011
The boys were eager to start crafts:
So Giant cut out a bear, which I then punched holes around the outer edge for him to lace a ribbon through:
Which actually made for an interesting math practice session too. Giant is still developing his persistence, and thus a prolonged fine-motor skilled repetitive movement craft that does not involve hurtling things through space tends to be a challenge for him. Which brings in the need for counting, backwards: “I have 5 holes left now…sigh….only 4 holes left mom, and then I’m done!…3 holes to put the string through…arrrrgghhhh!!….now there is just two and I’m finished…”
Tadah!
Ettin also got in on the arts and crafts session:
And then we had breakfast.
Oh, did I mention the boys were up at 5:30 this morning? Daddy had a course to go to early, so of course my boys had to wake up when he did. Thankfully they were pretty sweet…or there might have been trouble.
After breakfast Galoot held the object of our object lesson: we discussed how we can be “lights unto the world.”
Thanks buddy.
Ettin snuck in a little more arts and crafts (colouring and cutting) before naptime:
After lunch and Ettin and Galoot were napping, Giant and I hunted for gold….arrr’ matey.
We hid piles of blocks gold pieces around the living room, and then collected them to buy special treasures:
Oh, and I may have had him sort the gold peices into towers of tens and piles of ones. Thats right, me hearty, we were doin’ the maths.

Reading all of this, just warms my heart. I think that for you Cayleen, teaching is One of your spiritual gifts. You are a born teacher. You just can’t help yourself!

🙂 I think I had a great example growing up 😉
