Gymnastics!

Giant’s  Gymnastics!

Parents were able to enjoy a gymnastics presentation tonight as all the children in gymnastics gathered for a final presentation.

Admittedly, the image quality is not the best. These photos were taken in a large gym by a mommy sitting in the side bleachers. It wasn’t as dark as the pictures convey, but my flash just could not reach him 😉  So I have cropped, lightened, and increased the contrast so that I could show at least a fuzzy idea of what Giant’s gymnastics night looked like.

Although I’d prepped him for the idea that gymnastics would be different tonight, that lots of mommies and daddies would be there to watch, and that all the children who were learning gymnastics would be there, even I was a little overwhelmed when we arrived and they had what seemed like an hundred children grouped together on the floor doing warm-ups. Thankfully, I quickly located his friend Beanie and directed Giant to him.

Giant didn’t let go of that blessed child’s hand until the 1/2 hour of warm-ups were completed and he had to let go to do the routine.

Thank you for being such a source of strength, Beanie!

(It was also handy for me, since all I had to do to find Giant in the whirlwind of gymnasts was look for Beanie’s bright green shirt!)

The routine was fun to watch, and they put the kids through everything they learned:

Tucking in:

Jumping on a tramp:

Walking on a beam. Backwards…

…and forwards.

Swinging on the bars:

And a few other demonstrations of him somersaulting, star-jumping, and listening well.

To finish, they gave him his report card (awesome listener, good work on the various gymnastic forms, we need to work on ball throwing and catching) , and a bright blue ball (…handy).

Then, as a family, we went to DQ for a special treat to celebrate the great learning and effort that Giant (and his supporters) put into it.

Hooray! Yahoo! Yipee!
