Today is…Wednesday Mar 23 2011
My amazing friend showed up again this morning so that I might go Visiting Teaching.
Then she offered to take my oldest to the library with Beanie.
Did I mention she is amazing!
As Giant was getting ready to go with his friend to the library, I explained to Ettin that he was going to make muffins with me while Giant was away.
Giant left.
Ettin let out a, “Yaahooooo” and ran to the kitchen.
“I help make muffins mommy!!!”
I think this baking time with my boys is a good thing.
[Why is it so hard for me to do?!]
We measured and mixed the dry:
We measured and mixed the wet:
We mixed them both together:
Sampled:
“Its reawy good, mommy! I’m a hungy boy.”
Ettin made half-hearted attempts to help me fill the cups while he sampled the batter with gusto:
Giant came home and showed us what he did.
They made bags of squishy colour…
That they could colour and trace lines on:
Giant spent some time writing words and colouring pictures on this little bag.
He also made some maps.
Which I used as a lead-in to a gospel lesson.
We talked about how the gospel is to be carried to all nations, all the places on a map. And that we need to help the missionaries and be missionaries ourselves so that people can be blessed by the knowledge of how much Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love them:
During nap time, Giant got to watch a movie he’d picked out from the library. And while I was tempted to just let him keep going (movies are SOOO much easier than actually playing with my children myself. And they keep my boys fairly happy happily placated well drugged, too. However, it just doesn’t sit right with me!), I turned it off and hoped for the best.
It took him a few minutes to shake off the movie drug effects, but then he asked to colour.
And he spent the next hour or so tracing lines and letters and creating his own words in a dry erase activity book:
Wow. I think I need to have more faith in my boys’ ability to create and entertain themselves!
