Giant and I were having some issues this morning.

Issues which reminded me why the Hallowe’en candy usually gets tossed/hidden a couple of days after Hallowe’en. It goes, not because of the unhealthy nature of the goodies, but because it incites epic candy gimmies and tantrums!

We started the day with a prayer.

And included an extra plea for patience and love.

Then we looked at our Gospel Picture:

And Ettin erased our message:

Before we had a chance to read it.

So Giant wrote the day of the week:

“MUnDA”

And drew a pattern for us:

We did not get to the gym due to a funeral in the building.

We did go to Make and Mingle, where the boys played and I worked on my Plot and Structure book.

After lunch Ettin did not go down for a nap.

The boy has staying up until 9pm or 9:30pm, after being put to bed at 7pm. So we are trying out not having him nap. Which I am okay with as long as he is happy.

So, together, the boys tried on some great clothes we were recently given by a friend:

And then we practiced Independent Play.

This might sound like a homeschooling cop-out. I mean, just letting the kids play on their own? Isn’t that what they do all the time?

Ettin, yes.

Giant, no.

Giant loves attention and loves to be with me most of the time.

I love it.

Really.

Its just that although he is quite creative and does some really neat things on his own, he would rather be snuggled up to me, or be read to, or play computer games, or watch a movie.

But I’d love to help him be more content finding ways to entertain and make himself happy, instead of relying on extrinsic influences.

So today the boys played:

With mommy nearby, but not the main focus of Giant’s attention.

Oh, and with Ettin not napping?

We had one tired little boy at the supper table:

Thanks for being part of our school day, Ettin.
