What’s Green Wednesday
Bad news:
Good news:
Friends!
Friends to count with:
Friends to talk with:
Friends to learn about treating our bodies like Temples with:
Friends whose parents are mudding their basement, so we are lucky enough to have them come over to play!
(Those are some very sweet blond headed boys!)
After friends went home and little boys were napping,
Games!
(Which meant number writing and counting practice. But don’t tell Giant 😉 )
Hands.
I was shutting the door to the car a few months ago, and was struck with the thought, “that’s my mom’s hand.” It was tanned, getting wrinkly, covered in freckles. Nails about the same length (though, not as well cared for). The tendons, veins, lines, shadows…all just like my mom’s.
I thought about what my mother’s hands meant to me.
They held me, fresh into this world, full of awe:
They rocked me to sleep:
They comforted me when I was scared:
…held me when I was sad:
Tickled me into smiles:
And showed me how to have joy:
They worked hard, especially in the garden:
They taught me to celebrate in big ways…
…and little:
They held a world full of wonder:
Taught me the gospel:
And showed me how to create in the world around me:
And now, though far away, they are still reaching and touching the lives of my sons:
Mom, I love you. Thank you for being my Mother.
p.s. I’m glad I have your hands.
Giant desperately wanted to make a rocket ship. He found a picture of one in a book, you see.
Mommy tried
These rockets flew all around the house and into the garden with us.
He figured it out. And is very proud of himself:
The noise level in my house has increased by 10 decibels.
We read stories…
We made up stories about little creatures and the adventures they have:
We made up another game to practice math skills play:
Using those really fun eraser shapes grandma sent us!
We paused for a snack of tortillas and honey butter (Happy Cinco de Mayo!):
And the boys went to play outside in…could it be?! Sunshine!!!!
Hooray for sunshine!
(ps, we did have burritos for supper, but I’m afraid that was the extent of our Cinco de Mayo celebrations)
