After yesterday’s chaos, I demanded some order today.
We prayed.
We looked at our Gospel Picture:

We talked about how Christ loves us so much that he wanted us to have all the information we needed to be able to return to Heavenly Father.
We did our Morning Message. Our theme today is Poinsettias (can you tell?):

[Giant wrote: Mexico, 8, eigt (eight)]
Then, instead of heading out to Stay and Play, we had a couple of little boys (and a baby girl) over to play.
They played with toys,
Ate poinsettia snacks (don’t worry, not the real things):

Read a Mexican story about the poinsettia:

And made a poinsettia (that’s the first time I’ve typed it without spell check getting mad at me) craft:

After lunch, Galoot and Ettin napped, while Giant and I made buns and washed things.
The washing things was his idea.

I set the alarm for 5:30am to work on my writing. Alone. Without any boys.
Giant woke up at 5:20am and announced it was awake time.
So I started the morning with writing and a snuggly boy.
After daddy had left for work, Giant pulled out a booklet of construction paper and ripped it in half. He gave one part to Ettin and kept one for himself, proclaiming they were writing stories. Which they later read to Galoot:

Despite my actually being prepared for the day, we got out to gym late because I felt I should be looking into plane flights right before we were due to leave.
But we got there, and had a bunch of fun.
When we got home, the boys didn’t want to come inside.
Who could blame them? It was beautiful outside!

I brought them a snack to eat out on the front steps, and enjoyed the welcome rays of warm sunshine while Galoot snoozed in my bed:

This is the craft I had planned to make today:

We didn’t make it.
Instead, I figured out plane fares and flights and tickets and schedules and such (though not very well, I still managed to book our visit for the first week Hubby was supposed to start a robotics class. Sorry! ).
Thus, my boys played with minimal attention. And minimal cleanup:

But thankfully, minimal contention too. It was really quite nice.
Giant was very proud of his “bakery” :

I’m not entirely sure why it is a bakery, but he did get an impressive number of those Bloks to fit in the board.
The other activity for the day (since mommy had checked out), was watching the trucks dump great big loads of snow in the empty lot next to our house:

Finally, just before daddy got home, we looked at our Message.
Why? Because I had had it written out last night. I was prepared darn it! And I wasn’t gonna let that go to waste 🙂

We vacuumed.
Super Boys to the rescue!
(Who would have guessed vacuuming would be so much fun…but it is one of the favourite “toys” in our home)

We prayed. We had snack. We looked at our Gospel Picture:

Then, after lunch I read the boys some stories:

And Ettin crashed.

“His head is like this, mom.”

Yup.
Thankfully he crashed at 2pm and not 5pm, like he has been doing lately.
However, I’d planned to have him awake this afternoon!
Carrying on without our Ettin…
We did a reindeer craft.
We traced Giant’s and Galoot’s hands and feet.
Then I put a grumpy Galoot to bed while Giant cut out his tracings:

We glued and coloured them:

And put them up as reindeer peeking around our tree.
Or reindeer heads floating near the tree.
Either way, Tah Dah!

Now, for the rest of the afternoon.
I’ve actually been enjoying having Ettin not napping.
He keeps Giant busy.
Without him….

Giant is mostly underfoot.
Literally.
Thankfully Ettin didn’t nap for long, and we were able to enjoy his special talent of being able to entertain:

(he is colouring this picture specifically for Galoot. He draws intently for a little bit, then asks Galoot: “Like that, baby?” Then laughs and draws some more, always asking Galoot if he likes it. Too cute!)

We prayed.
We looked at our Gospel Picture about Alma the Younger:

(Galoot says he needs more spotlight time, so he’ll be making appearances in my Gospel Pics. When he’s awake. And not crying.)
We looked at our Morning Message.
I asked Giant to write some winter words.
So he did:
“Winter” [Wintr] (Ettin wrote over the r before I could take a picture)

“snostsworm” [snow storm]. Giant got the sounds of the two words of snow storm a little mixed up, but a lot of the sounds are there!

Then we went to gym, and came home after to play with friends.
After lunch, we worked on a craft.
Snowmen!
We traced circles (Yes, Giant has a diaper on his head. No, I didn’t really notice until I took this picture.):

Cut, glued, coloured…
…and put up our Snowmen:

Alright.
I kind of fizzled out today on the homeschooling front.
We didn’t get the last book for the fifth of the five senses until today, late in the afternoon.
Which isn’t really a good excuse.
Its just my excuse.
My poor boys may never learn that we have five, not four, (and maybe six) senses thanks to my negligence.
But we did get to the gym.
And we did play with friends all mornng.
After lunch and some tidying, we walked with Daddy to the library . It was only slightly below freezing…so toasty warm compared to the weather we’ve been having lately.
Then home for supper, a movie, and stories with Daddy!
