What’s Green Wednesday

Strawberries are starting to flower. Which I think means I have to start paying attention to late frost warnings:

Some sort of herb, growing some green leaves (sage?)

My newly divided rhubarb patch (there are 3 more plants not in the picture…)

My favourite little herb—oregano I think. It develops into a bushy ball with teeny little purple flowers that the worker bees love. Growing nicely in spite of the fact that I split it into four:

My new raspberries are looking happy:

An Elderberry (or possibly Saskatoon) start (I got two from a friend) is budding nicely:

Brassicas and Asparagus just waiting to be planted (soon little ones!)

And culled strawberries looking for new homes.

Although it was very tempting to just fill the garden this year with fruit, I had to leave a little space for my vegetable experiments 😉

A Week of Gardening

The weather has been beautiful.

I’ve been outside.

My boys have…

…well, I’m really not too sure.

We start the day together:

And then we head out to the garden together.

However, the boys often get tired of this before I do, and they head inside.

I think they play games…

…cut boxes…

…practice their letters and read stories…I’m sure of it…

…play with blocks…

…and re-carpet our living room…

…regularly.

Scripture Study

Comes a little too early sometimes.

Thank goodness for snuggly blankies.

Today is Thursday…May 12 2011

Feeling the need to be a mommy instead of a dirt-digging(putting in boxes) chicken-freedom-fighting (another story) machine, I took my kids down to stayn’play. And we dragged along a couple of extra sweethearts just for fun 🙂

We came back with this:

…Why yes, it is a caterpillar made from pantyhose and filled with dirt and grass seeds. You are good at this game!

The boys spent the rest of the afternoon playing!

Today is…Wednesday May 11 2011

Ettin came to me, begging to write “‘tum yettus” (some letters).

Like “X” and “E” and “O”. (I love the enthusiasm for learning that comes at this age 🙂  )

Giant had to get in on the writing too, of course:

Then the garden was calling our names.

Or at least it was calling mommy’s name, and she dragged three little boys out back:

After lunch, I just spent some time snuggling and reading stories with my Giant on the couch:

Bliss!
