We discussed the keys of the kingdom of heaven.
I showed them my keys, and had the boys guess which keys were for what (car, house, gym, mailbox, etc). Then we discussed how useless some things would be with no keys to open them or make them work.

We also talked about how grateful we were to have the priesthood authority here on earth, and all the incredible blessings and power that comes with it.

We looked at some ‘ed’ words:

And read a fun book about Ted’s red bed.

We woke up this morning to Pa digging us out of the foot of snow covering our beds,
Oh, wait. Laura Ingalls moment (By The Shores Of The Silver Lake).
Despite the snow and cold, we got ready for the day.
I gave a scripture lesson about how the Lord will take care of our needs—we read the account of how Jesus fed the 5000.
Giant cut his banana into loaves.

After borrowing the car from daddy, we went to Gymnastics and the Library.
Consequently, we brought home a large haul of very fun books:

Giant spent a good part of the afternoon just reading with me.

Then, since he seemed so very interested by the anatomy book I’d found, I traced Giant and Ettin and let them fill in the resulting body outlines.

Ettin filled in a very detailed face, with eyes and noses and mouths.
Giant drew some bones, facial features, and the lines for energy to flow through the body. A little new age, but since I think he was trying to convey blood and veins I didn’t bother to correct him. And hey, who knows—perhaps he was smack on track with the flow of energy through the body…

I hung the little monkeys from the tree.
And bribed the boys gave the boys an incentive to clean up the mess in under a minute (something which would have taken them…forever, otherwise):

…they had it cleaned in 40 seconds. Hm.
Then we looked at our message and talked about what we can learn from books:

I also caught a couple of very cute smiles:

Love these guys!!!

Hiya!

Hang on, I’m coming…

…I’m coming…

…I’m coming…

…I’m coming…

…I’m coming…

HeeHee, just look how far I came.
Better watch out, Momma!

Twas a cold and blustery morning…as usual.
We started with a prayer and gospel lesson from Matthew:

We talked about heavy burdens…

…that can be made light with the help of the Lord.

(Ettin was enjoying this activity. Really!)
Then we got ready for the day and went to the gym. Thankfully, we have as yet avoided frostbite on our walks. Though today it was close.
When we got back, the boys wanted to “Watch Dodi” — work on their piano lessons:

Even Galoot got in on the fun!

After the little ones went down for naps, Giant and I got to our morning message (yes, a little late):

And we spent a good portion of the afternoon making letters with the train tracks.
This activity was inspired by a horrid fight last night between Ettin—who wanted to connect tracks in the proper order of things, and Giant—who wanted to use the tracks to make letters. I calmed the storms by telling Giant we’d make letters the next day. Hence, we created the whole lower-case alphabet using the train tracks:

And made some really cute pictures too!
