Today is…Friday, Oct 29 2010

Having decided not to go to the gym today due to the probability of someone already being there (a nice Friday morning, and a day before Hallowe’en is celebrated in our Town), I was in no rush this morning.

Absolutely No Rush.

It felt wonderful.

While I worked on Plot and Structure,  the boys alternated reading with playing.

(That’s Giant caught in a book, halfway undressed, with his clothes just waiting on the couch)

Soon they were wanting to write on the couch beside me.

Nope.

Not that I don’t want them to write, but I don’t want them to write on the couch. Because the couch is usually where their writing ends up.

So I moved their books and pens to the table, and sat with them. And held an Ad Hoc writers meeting:

And even though they are still learning to hold a pen properly:

Or would really rather colour instead:

It was nice having writing company. I think I’ll try to make more opportunities like this in the future.

Then we started on lunch:

Hot Dog Mummies

We rolled out dough I’d mixed together earlier, cut up strips, and rolled them up:

And baked our little Mummies (I used a medicine dropper to apply the mustard eyes after they were baked):

I think the ones that the boys did were my favourites:

We also made some Bone Buns:

*sigh.* I love my helpers, I love my helpers, I love my helpers…

But they do get a little messy.

Bone Buns!

(I think my boys liked these better than the Hot Dog Mummies!)

While waiting for our treats to bake, Giant reminded me that we needed to do our Morning Message.

Thankfully we still had a couple of minutes of morning left, so we got busy.

We looked at our Gospel Picture:

And talked about how King Benjamin was such a good King. And that he loved his people so much that he taught them about Jesus Christ, because he wanted them to be happy.

Then we looked at our Morning Message:

After lunch, all the boys had a nap (on purpose this time), since we were heading to a party and knew the boys were going to be up late!
